Comfortable and environmentally conscious travelling

Sustainable travelling starts with the journey.

At all our Vivea 4* hotels and DAS SIEBEN ****Superior, we take targeted measures to promote environmentally friendly mobility and make it easier for guests to travel in a climate-friendly way.

✓ E-charging stations: There are 8 charging stations for our hotel guests' electric vehicles at each of our locations (11KW power, 8A)

✓ E-bike hire & charging stations: Guests can hire e-bikes on request and benefit from suitable charging facilities on site - ideal for exploring the surrounding area sustainably.

✓ Free of charge hotel shuttle: Each of our hotels offers a free shuttle service. E-vehicles are already in use at several locations to further reduce CO₂ emissions.

✓ Information & support on site: We actively inform our guests about climate-friendly mobility options on site. At certain hotel locations, guests can even use public transport completely free of charge by receiving a corresponding guest card on request.

With these measures, we make an active contribution to climate-friendly mobility and support our guests in travelling in an environmentally friendly way during their stay - without sacrificing comfort.

Sustainable energy management

The responsible use of energy is a central component of our sustainability strategy.

Efficiency & comfort combined

We implement targeted measures to use energy efficiently, conserve resources and reduce CO₂ emissions in the long term.

✓ 100% renewable electricity: All of our electricity requirements come from renewable sources - around 95% from hydropower. The guarantees of origin come mainly from Austria (82.6%) "and Norway (17.4%).

✓ Photovoltaic systems: PV systems have been in operation at all locations since 2024 to cover part of our electricity requirements ourselves.

✓ CO₂-neutral heat supply: Heat is supplied to almost all buildings via regional biomass heating plants, which are fuelled with wood chips from the surrounding region.

✓ Efficient lighting & appliances: There is a consistent switch to LED lighting (in some cases 100%), supplemented by energy-saving appliances.

✓ Consumption monitoring & CO₂ calculation: Monthly analyses of electricity and heat consumption as well as the calculation of the CO₂ equivalent per overnight stay help to identify potential savings.

✓ Heat recovery: By using heat recovery systems in wellness and swimming pool areas, we optimise the use of existing energy.

✓ Energy-efficient behaviour: Guests are encouraged to use energy consciously (e.g. lights off, windows closed, no minibars).

✓ Future-orientated measures: We continuously optimise heating and cooling systems, test intelligent energy management systems (e.g. automatic timers, motion detectors, key card systems) and are planning a new CO₂ balance for 2025, taking into account the PV systems.

Conscious use of water is essential for a sustainable future.

Using the most valuable resource sustainably

We implement targeted measures to reduce water consumption and use resources responsibly.

✓ Efficient water-saving technologies: Since mid-2024, we have installed flow restrictors in all our buildings. This has reduced average water consumption from 9.2 to 6.35 litres per minute - a saving of 3.7 litres for showers and 2 litres for washbasin taps. This saves water, energy and costs - without any noticeable loss of comfort for our guests.

✓ Best wellness offer: Our wellness areas utilise the natural healing resources that give the respective locations the status of a health resort. These valuable resources are utilised in a resource-friendly and sustainable manner.

✓ Raising guest awareness: We actively inform our guests about water-saving behaviour, for example by providing information on sustainable towel changes.

✓ Continuous consumption monitoring: By regularly analysing our water consumption, we identify potential savings and continuously optimise our measures.

With these initiatives, we actively contribute to using water efficiently, lowering operating costs and continuously reducing our ecological footprint.

For us, sustainability means avoiding waste, keeping materials in circulation and promoting environmentally friendly alternatives.

Our waste management concepts are based on precise waste separation, recycling management and targeted waste avoidance measures that are customised to the respective locations.

With these measures, we are focussing on a sustainable circular economy, reducing waste in a targeted and efficient manner and making an important contribution to protecting our resources.

The Bio-Oil seal of approval for sustainable used cooking oil disposal. As a partner of Bio Oil, we help to ensure that used cooking oil is recycled in the interests of the circular economy.

We minimise waste through:

Optimised waste separation and recycling

✓ Separation & disposal: Separation systems for guests and employees are available in all hotels. Hazardous waste such as used oils, batteries and pressurised gas packs are disposed of separately by certified disposal companies.
✓ Recycling of coffee capsules: Used coffee capsules are collected and recycled in the rooms.
✓ Printer cartridges & toner cartridges: Cooperation with Kyocera for an established take-back system to recover valuable raw materials.

Avoidance of packaging and food waste

✓ Sustainable packaging: We use reusable or compostable packaging in the kitchen, wellness and cleaning.
✓ Food without waste: Guests can choose their own portion sizes at the buffet, and leftovers are vacuum-packed and reused in the kitchen.
✓ Reusable transport packaging: Fruit, vegetables, meat and other foodstuffs are delivered or purchased in reusable returnable crates.
✓ Sustainable care products: Our shampoos, soaps & co. are packaged in an environmentally friendly way, are refillable and are based on a recycling cycle - for less waste and greater conservation of resources.

Circular economy & reuse

✓ Furniture, textiles & appliances: Furniture, textiles and appliances that are no longer needed are first offered to employees and then made available to the public - in order to prioritise reuse over disposal.
✓ Used oils & cooking fats: Used cooking oil is recycled in cooperation with Bio Oil - a sustainable solution for reuse instead of disposal for more resource conservation in everyday kitchen life.

Sustainable cleaning & hygiene materials

✓ Reusable cleaning products: We minimise waste by using reusable containers and dosing systems that significantly reduce our cleaning agent consumption.
✓ Recycled paper for the hygiene area: 90% of toilet paper and 100% of paper towels carry environmental certificates.

Sustainable print & digitalisation:

✓ Environmentally friendly printing: print jobs are only carried out by certified print shops that produce in accordance with the UZ24 guideline (Austrian Ecolabel).
✓ Continuous expansion of digital processes: where possible, we do without print and rely on digital solutions such as QR codes.

We attach great importance to sustainable procurement in order to ensure short supply chains, the promotion of the regional economy and the use of environmentally friendly materials. Our focus is increasingly on healthy and organic food to promote a conscious diet.

✓Freshness & quality: All dishes are freshly prepared and we regularly integrate regional specialities into our range.

✓Organic & regional food: Where possible, we favour the purchase of organic and regional products, taking seasonal availability into account.

✓Transparency for our guests: We publish a detailed list of food origins every year to ensure maximum transparency.

✓Dietary diversity: Our guests can enjoy a healthy, sustainable and organic diet. We also offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.

✓Organic free-range eggs: We are currently in the process of gradually switching to organic free-range eggs - for a more animal-friendly origin of our products.
