Fango

Classic part or full compress with warm natural fango. It can be applied directly to the skin without the need for a protective layer. This way, the fango’s valuable ingredients can take their full effect.

Our Freiburg natural fango is distinguished by its very powerful heating effect on spinal column, joints and muscular system, without feeling unpleasantly hot on the skin.

The heating effect gives rise to an antispasmodic effect in the muscular system, improving circulation and encouraging metabolism in the treated part of the body as a further consequence.

Natural carbon dioxide gas is at the heart of our intensive carbovasal therapy. It stimulates vessel activity and mitigates pain caused by all types of circulatory disorder. This therapy makes its presence felt with a strong feeling of warmth and pleasant tingling sensation.

This therapy can be applied with great success in the following cases:

All types of circulatory problems, vessel diseases, venous ulcers (leg ulcers), micro-circulation disorders (e.g. diabetes mellitus) and phantom pains.

So what exactly happens during this therapy?

First, the skin is soaked well and warmed in a special arm or foot bath (if medically necessary), which significantly increases the intake of carbon dioxide through the skin later on. Next, the guest is given a specially developed plastic suit. These suits include a full-body suit which is used to treat the legs and torso up to chest height. The plastic suits are tightly secured with a belt before preheated natural carbon dioxide gas is introduced through a process of humidification.

The natural carbon dioxide works intensively on the body through sustained pressure for a duration of 15 minutes, causing blood vessels to expand and stimulating pumping action, which in turn stimulates strong circulation. This also improves blood flow properties, enhancing vessel tone and promoting tissue repair and/or healing of venous ulcers. Improved circulation results in a strong feeling of warmth and sometimes also a pleasant tingling sensation.

After the therapy has been completed the same rule applies as always: “Don’t forget to rest.”

Electro-physiotherapy is a gentle method for treating a wide spectrum of health issues. Depending on the type of treatment, we use electro-physical therapies in order to stimulate the nervous system, promote circulation, strengthen muscles or relieve tensions.

The choice of therapy depends on the type of illness, the extent and intensity of the injury, pain perception and general condition, as well as previous treatments received.

Our team of doctors will determine the best therapies for you.

Choice of electro-therapies

  • Exponential current
  • Galvanisation
  • Full galvanic bath
  • Two and four cell galvanic bath
  • Iontophoresis
  • Microwaves
  • Electro-physiotherapy
  • Red light irradiation
  • Surge current
  • Ultrasound

Contraindications:

It should be noted that some of the electro-therapies above are not suitable for guests who carry a cardiac pacemaker or metal implants.

WHOLE-BODY CRYOTHERAPY -110°C

Entering a room with a temperature of minus 110 degrees Celsius wearing nothing but swimwear, and staying there for up to three minutes? It may sound incredible, but this type of therapy was developed in Japan around 1980 and has since...

The list of illnesses and associated symptoms which can be alleviated with the help of whole-body cryotherapy is a long one. It ranges from inflammatory rheumatoid diseases and osteoarthritis, through diseases of the spinal column and chronic pain conditions, right up to neurodermatitis and psoriasis, as well as sleeping disorders.

Therapy in the three-chamber system

Whole-body cryotherapy takes place in a three-chamber system. The first two chambers are lock chambers set at temperatures of minus 10 and minus 60 degrees Celsius, primarily so that you can quickly acclimatise. But these two chambers also have a technical purpose; namely, ensuring that not too much cold air can leak out of the actual therapy chamber. You stay in the therapy chamber for approximately three minutes. This way, although you feel the cold on your skin, it is not allowed to penetrate below the skin. But the extremely low temperature still has an effect on the entire body because the skin vessels are made to contract, causing the blood to be redistributed. In order to protect sensitive body parts from frostbite, users wear mouth, nose and ear protection, as well as gloves, socks and firm footwear. Overall, this therapy is tolerated very well, elderly people included.

Blocked pain conduction

In the first instance, the extreme cold blocks pain conduction. This means that the not unpleasant “bright” pain caused by the low temperature masks the unpleasant “dull” pain. As medical research has now confirmed, a result of chronic pains is the development of a so-called pain memory, which can cause violent reactions to even small pains. Whole-body cryotherapy can have a positive impact on this. The extreme cold also has an anti-inflammatory effect; an aspect that particularly benefits sufferers of chronic inflammation. As such, this therapy is suitable for treating rheumatoid arthritis, Bekhterew’s disease, as well as neurodermatitis and psoriasis, because the low temperatures also help to block itching. The performance-enhancing effect of whole-body cryotherapy has to do with the redistribution of blood: the blood is forced away from the skin, causing the supply of blood to the muscles to increase, an effect which is made use of first and foremost by competitive sportspeople in order to boost their training results.

Two to three doses per day

Whole-body cryotherapy should be undertaken during the period of a three to four week stay in order for the therapy to have optimal impact. The ideal scenario is for you to enter the cold chamber two to three times per day, with an interval of three to four hours in between. The positive effect can sometimes be felt already after just one treatment session. Most guests report a striking improvement in their symptoms after approximately 14 days. This improvement can last for up to half a year.

As with all types of therapy, there are some contraindications for whole-body cryotherapy. For example, it should not be used for people with cardiovascular problems, after a stroke or heart attack, nor if the person has epilepsy, untreated high blood pressure or impaired circulation. An acute illness – such as a severe cold – also renders the guest unfit for treatment. In terms of age, children as young as four years may use the cold chamber (accompanied by an adult) under particular conditions. Apart from that, the treatment is available right up into old age.

Indications:

  • Inflammatory rheumatoid diseases in the joints and spinal column
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Soft-tissue rheumatoid diseases (fibromyalgia)
  • Chronic pain conditions with various causes
  • Impaired regulation of muscle tone in infantile cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and muscle tensions
  • Psoriasis with and without joint involvement
  • Neurodermatitis
  • Blunt injuries of the joints, conditions following operative intervention in the joints and spinal column
  • Performance optimisation for work, sport and medical rehabilitation

Contraindications:

  • Circulatory problems
  • Heart disease, very high blood pressure
  • Stroke
  • Loss of sensation in extremities
  • Severe cold
  • Cold intolerance
  • Claustrophobia
  • Localised frostbite
  • Paraesthesia

Moist, warm salt water inhalation treatments and inhalations with medicinal supplements cause a rapid alleviation of symptoms in the neck, nose and throat. They have a mucolytic effect and, what’s more, help to reduce inflammation, promote circulation and reduce swelling.

Furthermore, the mucous membrane defences are strengthened. This treatment can also be applied to post-operative tissue repair following ENT interventions, acute and chronic inflammations of the upper and central respiratory passages, as a preventive treatment for coughs and colds, as an effective means of support during the hay fever season, and for acute and chronic inflammations of the paranasal sinuses.

Inhalations are offered with and without supplements."

Warm, cold, warm – this is the simple principle behind Kneipp therapy. The soothing effect lends this supposedly conservative form of treatment particular popularity among young and old alike. The Kneipp method is a gentle therapy designed to fortify the immune system, strengthen the veins, stimulate metabolism and improve sleep quality.

For this therapy, you tread alternately in cold and warm water, ensuring that one leg is always completed lifted out of the water and that the point of the foot is stretched downwards. Treading water in this way stimulated circulation and promotes arterial flow. The cold shock allows the surface blood vessels to contract. Together with muscle movement, this also promotes the flow of blood through the veins and prevents varix.

Indications:

  • Circulatory problems
  • Varix
  • Strengthening the body’s defences

SALT WATER

Salt water is said to be a natural fountain of youth. The precious minerals have anti-inflammatory properties, invigorate the skin and soothe the respiratory tract.

The curative, iodine-rich salt water can be taken in the following forms: Full baths (salt concentration 4 to 16%), salt water therapy pools (salt concentration 4%), salt water floating pools (salt concentration 8% and 16%), salt water graduation room and salt water misting, as well as a drinking fountain.

In combination with UV irradiation, salt water treatments offer a healing effect similar to a stay by the Dead Sea – skin rejuvenation, relaxation, increased feeling of well-being, and strengthening of the immune system.
