Winter magic in Carinthia

In winter, in addition to the numerous ski areas for piste enthusiasts, activities such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and winter hiking take centre stage.

There is also always the opportunity to go ice skating on one of the lakes when they are frozen over - this is a very special experience in addition to the unique opportunity of a winter boat trip.

Lake Wörthersee

Ortenburg castle ruins

It was once the largest castle in Carinthia and the ancestral seat of the Ortenburg noble family. Storms and earthquakes have unfortunately caused extensive damage, but the ruins have been made accessible for visitors.

Lake Millstätter See

The hiking trails by the lake offer pure idyll and there is also a unique thermal bath here, which is perfect for swimming, especially in winter.

Pyramidenkogel

Have you heard of the highest wooden observation tower in the world? It is located on Lake Wörthersee and offers a unique 360-degree panoramic view over Carinthia. Simply marvellous, regardless of the season.
